TREATMENT, CARE & SUPPORT

While there is no cure for HIV or AIDS, the continuous development of safe and effective drugs have enabled HIV positive individuals to live long, productive lives. For treatment to produce the desired results however, patients must adhere to the guidelines provided by the physician. These drugs can suppress the HIV virus but cannot completely remove it from the body.

Physicians and various organisations provide not only treatment, but care and support. Various organisations provide nutritional counselling, food baskets and hampers, and in some cases shelter for those who find themselves unable to provide for themselves. The aim of these organisations is to improve the overall standard of life of people living with HIV & AIDS.

The following organisations provide treatment, care and support for people living with HIV & AIDS:

AIDS MANAGEMENT TEAM AT QEH (AMT)
The physicians of the AMT are responsible for the care and treatment of all the HIV/AIDS patients that enter the hospital, whether they are admitted to the paediatric or obstetrics ward.
