Stefan Spath
ARTIST CHEF - GERMANY

Born in Bamberg Germany in 1970, Chef Stefan Spath discovered a passion for cooking and baking while spending many enjoyable hours in his two grandmothers’ kitchens.  This love and curiosity for the preparation of foods lured Stefan into completing two separate apprenticeship trainings, as both a Chef and a Pastry Chef.

Stefan left Germany for London where he worked in the kitchen of the prestigious Berkley Hotel, then on to New Zealand where he spent 3 years in the Christchurch Parkroyal Hotel kitchens.  New Zealand is where Stefan discovered a new, lighter approach to cuisine, which is still imbedded in his food style today.

His desire to experience many culinary influences found Stefan next working 3 years as the Executive Sous Chef and Pastry Chef with the Grand Regency Hotel in Nairobi, Kenya.  His local reputation for preparing innovative food and pastries led to him being chosen to cook for many visiting dignitaries, including the preparation of a spectacular 6 foot cake for the Kenyan President’s 20th Anniversary.

From Africa, Chef Stefan moved to Negril, Jamaica where he is currently employed as the Regional Executive Chef for two very popular resorts, Couples Negril and Couples Swept Away.  Couples Negril won Travel and Leisure Magazine’s award for Best All-Inclusive Resort in the Caribbean 2003, while Couples Swept Away was named as one of the Top Ten Hotels in the Caribbean 2005 by Conde Nast Traveler Magazine.  These international accolades solidify Stefan’s reputation as one of the most creative and innovative chefs in the Caribbean region.

In 2006 Chef Spath received an invitation as ‘Distinguished Visiting Chef’ by Johnson & Wales University in Miami. This prestigious honor included for Stefan to prepare a 6 course menu for the Campus’ VIP invitees as well as conducting several lectures and demonstrations for the students, promoting his ‘Fusion Cuisine’.

After 8 years living in Jamaica, Chef Stefan Spath has developed a distinctive flair through his cuisine.  His menus change constantly, inspired by the many exotic flavors and ingredients for which the Caribbean is famous.
